A Generations Update
The architectural team with WGM Design was on campus for two days last week for their initial information gathering surveys and to meet with members of the Project Team, church staff and various committee members. Those meetings gave WGM a better understanding of how we use all of the many spaces throughout the campus, and extensive discussions were held about how those spaces could be renovated and better utilized to serve the various Snyder ministries. WGM was joined by a team of engineers who, through a staff-guided tour, surveyed our existing mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems to assess their condition and to determine what changes or upgrades might be needed to accommodate the planned renovations.
The meetings included individual sessions with staff and committee members closely associated with the children’s wing, the sanctuary worship services, the Fellowship Hall worship services and the Decorations Committee. WGM did an extensive walk-through of the entire campus, asked a lot of questions and began building a database of information and ideas that would facilitate their initial design work. The sessions included presentations by WGM of renovation projects their firm has designed for spaces similar to those we have at Snyder, and it was exciting to see how new materials, finishes and creative design ideas can transform outdated areas into bright, functional spaces.
The next step will be for WGM to begin putting to paper the ideas and suggestions gathered in the form of two-dimensional concept drawings. The interior design team of WGM will also begin developing color schemes and materials samples for suggested finishes. The concept drawings and interior finish ideas will then be presented to the groups associated with the recent sessions for further discussion and continued development.
We are confident in the process that has brought us to this point and pleased that the input obtained from the entire church family over these many months has led to the meaningful design work now underway. We ask for your ongoing prayers for wisdom and guidance, and we will continue to update you on our progress with additional in-person and written announcements.
