A Generations Update
The Project Team, in coordination with the Strategic Planning Committee, has recently hired owner’s representative, Will Berkeley, with Berkeley Consulting Group, based out of Charlotte. Berkeley came highly recommended and has been in construction for over 20 years. He has experience working with churches, helping them stay on schedule and within budget. In his role as Snyder’s owner’s representative, Will and his partner will be acting as the central point of contact to facilitate effective communication and collaboration among all parties involved. This includes (but is not limited to) weekly meetings with Snyder’s Project Team, assisting with the selection of the contractor, coordinating designs with the architect using value-engineering procedures, and developing cash-flow analysis and other construction documents.
Will is currently speaking to qualified contractors to determine their level of interest in our project. Up to five contractors will be interviewed, and a selection will be made based on a combination of qualifications, fee schedules, and suitability for our specific projects. The interview process will begin within the next couple of weeks and we hope to have a contractor on board by early-to-mid September. In coordination with the architect and the contractor, Berkeley and the Project Team will also be refining our project estimates and developing a phasing plan so that specific project designs can be completed over the next several months. Once a contractor has been selected and construction begins, Berkely will act as the project manager, in conjunction with the Project Team, to manage final design and implementation, project phasing, and day-to-day construction activities. Will’s role is crucial in bringing together various parties involved to ensure the project’s success from start to finish.
