Cheering on the Home Team
Cheering on the Home Team!
As we enter a new college football season, I am most excited not about my favorite college football team, but about our staff team. They are fun to work with and accomplish so much each week. Their focus enables us to fulfill our purpose of leading people to Discover God, Develop Faith, and Display Christ-like love. This team works daily to ensure that Sunday mornings (our game day) run smoothly and our building is clean and inviting. Many of them are the first to arrive each morning and the last to leave in the evening. Most of their work occurs behind the scenes, but their dedication inspires me. I am immensely thankful for all they do, from organizing impactful events to maintaining our church facilities with care and diligence.
Please make time to pray for them by name, asking God to grow them spiritually as they create experiences and prepare the environments that will encourage others' spiritual growth. Pray for wisdom as they plan these experiences and strategize our weekly environments to make our work as a church more effective in leading people to Discover God, Develop Faith and Display Christ-like love in attitude and action. Pray that God would multiply and deepen the time they do get to spend with their family when not on campus or leading an off-campus event. We have staff taking care of aging parents, raising newborns, and everything between and beyond, often sacrificing their personal time and comfort for the sake of our church community. That is right. Many of our staff volunteer hours doing ministry alongside our volunteers and outside the scope of their job positions. They do this because of their love for God, their church and our purpose.
Few things encourage me more as a leader than when those I am on staff with receive encouragement from our members like those who are reading this article. The next time you see one of them in the hallway, take a moment to say something like, "I probably do not know all you are doing, but I value the wholehearted effort and the eternal impact you are having in and through our church."
Looking forward to another great season,
Blake
