A Pastor's Perspective 04-23-2024
As our generosity initiative, “Generations”, builds toward its conclusion, the time for decision approaches for each of us. In all important issues of life, there comes a time to move from deliberation to decision, from consideration to commitment. Our church family is being challenged to commit itself to a new level of faith, service, and love.
Before we ask the whole church to respond, we are giving you, the Snyder family member, the opportunity to commit first. The amount committed at the Advance Commitment Worship Night will be an encouragement to the whole church family, and will determine the magnitude of the financial victory.
The Biblical pattern for Advance Commitments is found in I Chronicles 29. In efforts to raise the resources to build the temple in Jerusalem, King David challenged himself and his leaders to set a high standard as an encouragement to the children of Israel. According to I Chronicles 29:6, “Then the leaders of families, the officers of the tribes of Israel, the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds, and the officials in charge of the king’s work gave willingly.” The response of the leaders had an impact on the people of Israel as recorded in I Chronicles 29:9, “The people rejoiced at the willing response of their leaders, for they had given freely and wholeheartedly to the Lord. David the king also rejoiced greatly.” We are asking you to participate in a similar way.
The Advance Commitment Worship Night is designed to bring together the core families for the crescendo of this phase of the generosity initiative. At this event, we will have a program of information, inspiration and challenge with commitment cards being distributed at the end of the worship time. Afterwards we will gather for a time of refreshments and fellowship. The cards will be completed that night and returned during a special time of worship and celebration.
The details for the Advance Commitment Event are as follows:
Date: May 3, 2024 Time: 6:30pm Location: Sanctuary
The announcement of the totaled commitments from the Advance Commitment Worship Night will inspire our church family with the most powerful influence of all -- personal example. We will make the announcement on Sunday, May 5, 2024. The rest of the congregation will be invited to make their commitments at the conclusion of the special service on Sunday, May 12, 2024.
