A Pastor's Perspective 09-20-2024
October 6 will be the 75th Anniversary of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church! We have invited former staff to attend, along with David Crocker and John Cook, who will both be preaching on Sunday morning. Additionally, Bob Haynes and Larry Dickens will be working with the music. It promises to be a great day!
At the end of the Generations Advanced Commitment Night, back in early May, we moved to the front of the Sanctuary for refreshments on the front lawn. I heard it over and over again…we miss doing dinners out here! So, we pulled the 75th Anniversary together and decided that would be the perfect thing to do for our anniversary. Beginning at 5pm, we will meet on the front lawn. Bring your potluck meals and lawn chairs or blankets as we join together to eat and celebrate. We will also have a short worship service that will include the Youth Choir and Sanctuary Choir singing a special number, Giles singing, and then we will have communion outside by intinction led by our ministers and deacons. Our plan is to gather everyone on the front steps for another picture of the Church together and end with “Sweet, Sweet Spirit!”
Special thanks to our 75th Anniversary Committee chaired by Pam Ancherico. The rest of the committee includes Adam Ancherico, Rebecca Aul, Joanne Blackwelder, Ray and Lori Canady, Joanne Copeland and Beth Dees.
It’s hard to believe that it’s been 75 years since Dr. Joel Snyder’s dream for the Church on the Hill became a reality. We hope you will join us for this special occasion as we celebrate together! If you are interested in learning more about the history of Snyder, we are hoping to have a copy of the video that was put together for the 60th anniversary on our website. Be watching for it!
Serving Together,
Susie Reeder
